These pages refer to a series of nineteenth century photographs of Chinese prisoners held in Public Record Office Victoria’s holdings.

The photographs and text help us to understand what it must have been like to be Chinese in nineteenth-century Australia and to understand the attitudes and behaviours of European Australians towards them.
