Biography:
Mrs. W. F. Binns of Tyers who signed the 1891 Women's Suffrage Petition.

She came to Victoria in 1848 as a sixteen year old Irish orphan. She lived with her husband on various goldfields. Her life was not easy, she lost three of her ten children in childhood. She was an impressive woman who ran various businesses with her husband on the goldfields and had been well educated in the orphanage in Ireland as a child. Her family still has a mantle clock that she carried around the various goldfields, living in tents, etc. It was apparently very precious to her and we now treasure it in her memory. She lived to over ninety years of age.
