In 1865 Yun Lee sued Liu Wy Yip in the Creswick Court to recover the cost of groceries sold to Liu Wy Yip. The document in Chinese was evidence of the sale of these goods. The court was provided with an English translation of the Chinese text. The orginal invoice in Chinese can be found after the English language court documents on this page.

Although an official translation was provided to the court with the Chinese text in 1865, it was strictly geared to the needs of the court - as a comparison with a modern translation shows. A contributor to this WIKI has provided both the transcription into printed Chinese and a modern translation of the invoice. This recent translation of the document provides more detail about the about the nineteenth century business in Creswick and the food it sold. The transcription and modern translation by E. Finch can be found here.
