8314-P1-u3-staff-001 small.jpg Staff (CLERICAL)

The hope was that office accommodation for clerical staff be at hotel at which quartered. Some car to travel to office if at another place, and generally better for more efficient work and contact with Royal Household.

One large room with suitable typing table, chairs, and desks will be sufficient. Telephone to be in room, and number of such phone to be included in Government House Telephone Directory.

Clerical staff will, of course, dine in hotel at all times.

Domestic staff, including Detective, will dine in Stewards Room with Govenrment House Senior Servants.

Other Government House staff in Servants Hall.

LUGGAGE.

Light luggage brought ashore early. Heavy luggage unloaded at Quay.

The Queen:-

2 large trunks 60 x 24 x 24.

1 large trunk 50 x 22 x 22

His Royal Highness:-

1 large trunk.

These trunks must not be tipped upside down. May be slightly tipped. Most important.

Those trunks may be taken up front hall stairs. No objection to passing Queen's Suite.

A certain amount of storage space will be required for empty suit cases etc. The Seargeant Footman will come ashore with heavy luggage.

TRANSPORT.

Door Openers. If possible door openers to be provided. Police did in New Zealand, otherwise Equerries. Bennet or White could do this on arrival at Government House. Do it at Buckingham Palace.

The transport officer or his Deputy must report to the Equerry-in-waiting early each morning as to weather conditions.

Suggestions should be made as to which car or cars to be used by Her Majesty and His Royal Highness. This is most important.

q PRESENTATION OF ADDRESSES - BOOKS - GIFTS ETC.

To be handed to Sir Michael Adeane.

Prepare replies on Royal letterheads for signature by private secretary to the Queen.
