Colonel Spraggett,

Dear Sir,

Further to interview and discussion re catering for Royal Garden Party, we firstly would like to convey through you sir, our thanks and appreciation to His Excellency the Goernor and Lady Brooks for their confidence in favoring us with this very important function and wish to assure His Excellency and Lady Brooks we will use our best endeavours on their behalf.

As requested by you, we shall be pleased to submit sample trays of high class cakes and pastries and will take care to see that, as you suggest, these should be of a very small size. We woll also send samples of sandwiches, etc, etc., and will pay special attention to seeing that they are fresh, by that we will see that they are cut at the very last moment. These smples we will let you have very early in February.

With regard to your request that there should be complete uniformity of dress, we will take care that the waitresses all have black dresses, white aprons and suitable head wear.

Lastly we enclose herewith a suggested Menu of eatables which should be provided for Afternoon Tea, with choice of certain additions which may be considered desirable.

As I have explained to you, the charge for the tea complete and service will be slightly higher that is was on previous occasions.

Although there will be approximately double the number present at this Garden Party as there were at each of the previous ones, we were able to give you a lower quotation last time, because in addition, there was a youth garden party for 4,000. On this occasion you have asked for better quality cakes and sandwiches, etc and this I will guarantee to provide.

As was the case on previous occasions, I imagine the Government will meet the cost of the crockery and plant for the hot water services, etc, etc.

The price of Hire will be subject to a reduction of ₤29.3.0 for the use of 2,000 Cups, Saucers and Teaspoons from Government House providing they are delivered to the marquee. In the event of us having to provide labor to pack and transport these goods, the additional cost will be dedutable from the allowance quoted.

While all care will be taken of this crockery no responsiblity will be accepted.

Thanking you for your favours and awaiting you further advise,

We remain,

Yours faithfully,

TURNER'S CATERING SERVICE

Colonel Spraggett,

Secretary.

To His Excellency the Governor.
