| Marian Benson, b. Marian Arthur in 1843 to William and Harriet (nee Lowe) Arthur, married William Benson, a civil engineer, mining surveyor and architect, in 1864 at St Peter's Church of England, Ballarat. William Benson died in Ballarat in 1882 and Marian and their four daughters moved to Melbourne. Marian and her eldest daughter Emma (Mary) both signed the 1891 Women's Suffrage Petition, the other daughters being too young. At this stage, I know little more about Marian, except that her father William Arthur was a teacher, and her husband William was probably a temperance campaigner, having addressed a Working Man's Temperance Meeting in Ballarat in 1870.
Marian Benson died in Camberwell in 1930.
