Biography:
Isabel (Bella) Malcolm was one of the 30,000 who signed the petition. She was 17 years old, living in Geelong and possibly working as a domestic servant.

She was one of 10 children (4 brothers and 5 sisters) and her mother died when she was 7 years old.

I don’t know what prompted her to sign the petition. She and her sisters worked as domestics, but Bella is the only one who definitely signed the petition.

They were a Scottish Presbyterian family. Bella’s family migrated to Australia in 1859.
