| Grace Clara Stone was one of the group of women who first gained admission to the University of Melbourne to study medicine as a result of Lilian Helen Alexander's initiative in 1887. Upon graduation, she joined her sister, Emma Constance Stone in private practice as well as forming part of the group of pioneering women involved in the establishment of the Queen Victoria Hospital and the Victorian Women's Medical Association.
Whilst a student at the University, Clara was a signatory to the Women's Suffrage Petition of 1891.
