|Emma Constance Stone gained her medical qualifications and early practicing experience overseas. On her return to Melbourne in 1890, she became the first woman to gain registration with the Medical Board of Victoria and was instrumental in the founding of the Queen Victoria Hospital for Women and Children.|
Constance was joined by her sister Grace Clara Stone both in private practice and working towards the foundation of the Queen Victoria Hospital and later working therein.
Constance was also instrumental in the formation of the Victorian Women's Medical Association and served as inaugural president.
She married Dr David Egryn Jones in 1893 and had a daughter who followed in the footsteps of her mother and aunt Clara, becoming a doctor.
