Mrs James McAllister of Geelong was one of the signatories to the 1891 Women's Suffrage Petition. She was formerly Eliza Hiscutt who was born in Tooting, England in 1843. In 1884 she travelled to Australia with her parents, Ann and George and her siblings, George, Henry and Emma. They were assisted immigrants on board The Joshua. The family settled in Geelong and Eliza became a dress maker. She married James McAllister (an immigrant from Ballymena, Ireland), in 1861, in Geelong.

They had eight children. She died in Geelong on the 28th of June 1904. Her daughter Annie McAllister also signed the petition.
