Biddy Gallagher was one of the Irish Famine Orphans on the Lady Kennaway. She had been a Laundress prior to leaving her native place of Donegal, Ireland; she was Roman Catholic; possessed a Bible and could neither read nor write. Her Mother was still alive. (Nominal Passenger List - VPRS 14/P0000/0004)

Biddy left the Immigration Depot on 16th December 1848 when she was engaged by Edward Curr, for 6 months at £14 per annum. (Disposal List - VPRS 14/P0000/0006)

Biddy and her sister, Ellen, who also sailed on the Lady Kennaway, were resident in the Donegal Workhouse. Their parents were Francis and Ellen Gallagher. Biddy died in the South Melbourne Immigrants Home on 12th December, 1882 - cause of death was alcoholism.
