Bessy Grady was one of the Irish Famine Orphans on the Lady Kennaway. She had never been employed prior to leaving her native place which is not named; she was Roman Catholic and could read a little. No entry regarding whether her parents were still alive or not. (Nominal Passenger List - VPRS 14/P0000/0004)

Bessy spent 18 days in the Immigration Depot - leaving there on 6th January 1849. She was engaged as a Housemaid by W. Hatch of Collins Street, Melbourne for 12 months at £14 per annum with rations. (Disposal List - VPRS 14/P0000/0004 & VPRS 14/P0000/0006)
