Bessy Gordon was one of the Irish Famine Orphans on the Lady Kennaway. She had been a Nursemaid prior to leaving her native place of County Mayo, Ireland; she was Roman Catholic and could neither read nor write. Both her parents were dead. (Nominal Passenger List - VPRS 14/P0000/0004)

Bessy left the Immigration Depot on 3rd February 1849 when she was engaged as an Apprentice by S. Amr(?) Kyte of Bourke Street, Melbourne, for 2 years at £6 per annum. (VPRS 14/P0000/0006)
