Anne Cowen was one of the Irish Famine Orphans on the Diadem. She had been a House Servant prior to leaving her native place; she was Roman Catholic; . (Nominal Passenger List - VPRS 14/P0000/000)

Anne was received into the Immigration Depot on 12th January 1850 and left there on 19th January. She was engaged by Francis B. Jones, Cooper of Melbourne for 6 months at £88 £

Ann married William Connolly (also known as William Connelly in 1852 according to the Rites of the Presbyterian Church. (Marriage Certificate 1852/2969). They had the following children:-

  1. James born in Sandhurst in 1859 (Birth Certificate 1859/9640) and died, aged 3 years, in 1861 (Death Certificate 1861/8042)
  2. John born in Sandhurst in 1862 (Birth Certificate 1862/4991) and died, aged 1 day, in 1862 (Death Certificate 1862/2941)
  3. Elizabeth born in Sandhurst in 1863 (Birth Certificate 1863/4627)
  4. Henry born in Sandhurst in 1866 (Birth Certificate 1866/11054) and died, aged 12 days, in 1866 (Death Certificate 1866/6575)
  5. William Arthur born in Sandhurst in 1868 (Birth Certificate 1868/5297)
  6. Unnamed Male Connolly born in Shee(?) in 1874 and lived for only 1 day. (Death Certificate 1874/6442)

According to her Death Certificate, Ann, (as Ann Connelly), died, aged 50 years at Sandhurst in 1886 (Death Certificate 1886/14468)
