In 1887 this house and land at what is known now as 85 Victoria Street Flemington formed part of a larger parcel of vacant land owned by John McLean - it passed successively from John to the McLean Trustees and on to Thomas Gladwin, a wholesale butcher by 1903. By 1905 the house had been built and was occupied by Catherine Manning according to Electoral Rolls for the period. It is one of the few properties in the area with a side driveway access for vehicles.
